The Gmina Gorzów Śląski [ ˈgɔʒuf ˈɕlõsci ] is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Oleski of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name ( German Landsberg OS ) with 2460 inhabitants (2016).
geography
The municipality is located in the far north of the Opole Voivodeship and borders the Łódź Voivodeship . The district town of Olesno is fifteen kilometers away and the voivodeship capital of Opole is about 60 kilometers away. Gorzów Śląski is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The region originally belonged to Lower Silesia . One of the waters is the Prosna , a tributary of the Warta .
The municipality is connected to the national road network by Droga krajowa 45 (DK 45) and Droga wojewódzka 487 (DW 487).

The town-and-country municipality (Gmina miejsko-wiejska) Gorzów Śląski covers an area of 154.1 km² with about 7200 inhabitants. In addition to the eponymous city, it also includes the villages:

politics
mayor
The mayor is at the head of the municipal administration . Since 2006 this has been Artur Tomala from the German minority. The regular election in October 2018 brought the following result:
- Artur Tomals ( German Minority Election Committee ) 43.6% of the vote
- Kryspin Nowak (election committee “We work locally”) 37.4% of the vote
- Agnieszka Bachowska ( Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ) 19.0% of the vote
In the runoff election that was then necessary, Tomala was re-elected with 58.3% of the votes against his opponent Nowak.
City council
The city council consists of 15 members and is directly elected in single-person constituencies. The 2018 city council election led to the following result:
- Election committee German minority 41.6% of the votes, 8 seats
- Election committee “We work locally” 35.5% of the votes, 5 seats
- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 19.2% of the votes, 1 seat
- Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe (PSL) 3.1% of the vote, 1 seat
- Remaining 0.6%, no seat
