After the Minority Protection Act came into force in 2005, the Sośnicowice municipality conducted local surveys early on. Seven out of nine places spoke out in favor of the additional introduction of German place names. After that, they hesitated to take further steps for a few years, and finally on February 25, 2013, the applications were sent to the responsible ministry for administration and digitization. On October 10, 2013, additional official German place names were introduced in the municipality for six of the nine districts, followed in October 2014 by Lona-Lany as the seventh place.
On December 11, 2013, bilingual place-name signs were set up in these districts. Kieferstädtel is thus the third municipality in the Silesian Voivodeship in which bilingual place-name signs can be found. After Rudnik , it is now the second municipality with German-speaking place-name signs, in which less than 20 percent of the population are German.
