Gnadschütz is a village in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia that has merged with the Altkirchen district of the town of Schmölln .

location

The village taken over in Altkirchen is located in the northwestern part of the agglomeration of the main town on Gnadschützer Weg , which connects to state road 1361 (Schmölln-Meuselwitz). The community part is north of the blue tide .

history

The village was first mentioned between 1181 and 1214. Gnadschütz was largely given away to the Bergerkloster by the Burgrave of Altenburg in 1288 . In 1445 six farms were mentioned.

After the secularization of the Bergerkloster in the 16th century, Gnadschütz belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which from the 16th century onwards was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies due to several divisions during its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar ( 1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place again became part of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. Like Köthenitz, the former village merged with Altkirchen in the 19th century .

After the administrative reform in the duchy, Gnadschütz belonged to the Eastern District (until 1900) and to the Ronneburg District Office (from 1900). From 1918 Gnadschütz belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 it came to the district of Altenburg .

During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Gnadschütz came as part of community Altkirchen with the county Schmölln to the district Leipzig ; that had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district of Schmölln and became part of the district of Altenburger Land during the Thuringian district reform in 1994 . On January 1st, 2019 Altkirchen was incorporated into the town of Schmölln with Gnadschütz. At the present time Gnadschütz consists of four farms. In addition, there are about 20 other houses and five apartment buildings built during the GDR era. Around 100 people live in the place today.
