Hartha is a district of Schmölln in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

Hartha is located southwest of Lumpzig and also west of Altenburg in the Altenburger-Zeitzer-Lösshügelland , a section of the Leipzig lowland bay . The state road 1362 connects the district with traffic. To the west of the village is the border with the Thuringian district of Greiz and the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt . There is also the southernmost point of Saxony-Anhalt.

history

Hartha was first mentioned in a document in 1336. The place belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony- Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, Hartha belonged to the Eastern District (until 1900) and to the Ronneburg District Office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 it came to the district of Altenburg .

On July 1, 1950, Hartha was incorporated into Lumpzig. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Hartha came to the district of Leipzig as part of the municipality Lumpzig with the district Schmölln ; that had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district of Schmölln and became part of the district of Altenburger Land during the Thuringian district reform in 1994 . 100 inhabitants lived in the district in 2012. On January 1, 2019, the Lumpzig community was dissolved and Hartha became a part of the town of Schmölln.

Attractions

The last post mill in the Altenburger Land is located a little away from the village in the direction of Dobra / Wildenbörten . Often referred to as the Lumpziger post mill, it is on Harthaer landmarks. It was built in 1732 and is often referred to as the oldest post mill in Thuringia, but there is a post mill from Großmehlra near Mühlhausen / Thuringia from 1729 in the Thuringian open-air museum in Hohenfelden in the Weimar region .

Business

There is a cheese dairy in the village that produces Altenburg goat cheese , which is typical of the region .

traffic

The Meuselwitz – Ronneburg railway , on which passenger traffic was carried out between 1887 and 1972, runs through the locality of Hartha . The train station located on Harthaer Flur was called Großbraunshain until 1953 , then the name Lumpzig until it was closed in 1972 . Since 1974, the remaining section of the route has only been used for freight traffic.

The favorable traffic connection from Hartha on the state road 1362 became a burden for the citizens. Therefore a bypass was built.
