history

Drugs belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, drugs belonged to the Eastern District (until 1900) and to the Ronneburg District Office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 it came to the district of Altenburg .

On July 1, 1950, Mohlis was incorporated after drugs. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus, the community of drugs with the district of Schmölln came to the district of Leipzig , which had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district of Schmölln and which became part of the district of Altenburger Land during the Thuringian district reform in 1994 . Since January 1, 1992, the community of drugs belonged to the administrative community Altenburger Land .

On January 1, 2019, the community of drugs was incorporated into Schmölln. The Altenburger Land administrative community was dissolved.

The former cultural center is now used by the local government

Municipal council

The composition of the local council , which consists of six members, was determined in the local council election on March 15, 2015 with a turnout of 53.2% (−9.6% p). All candidates are independent of the list.

mayor

Former mayors were Barbara Kadur until 1999, Andreas Zippel until 2002 and Christine Helbig until 2015. On March 15, 2015, Carmen Meister was elected to office with 61.8% of the vote and a voter turnout of 53.2% (- 6.5% p).

Place-name signs

Similar to the Austrian town of Fucking , drug signs have been stolen again and again in recent years because of the unusual place name . In order to prevent renewed theft, the renewed signs - like all other place-name signs and signposts in the district - were now installed at a height of around two meters. However, these were also stolen several times, which led to considerable costs for the community. By MDR telecast Mach dich ran in 2012 in a new day job, supposedly theft-proof place name signs have been organized for the place and provided free of charge. That too did not last.
