Gottfried Edelbüttel
Gottfried Edelbüttel (born December 31, 1867 in Dirschau , † March 28, 1937 in Berlin-Lichterfelde ) was a German infantry general of the Reichswehr .
Life
Noble constable came on 16 October 1887 as a cadet in the Infantry Regiment "Prince Maurice of Anhalt-Dessau" (5th Pomeranian) no. 42 in Stralsund one was there on May 16 in 1888 Cadet appointed and on January 15, 1889 promoted to lieutenant . From October 1, 1895 to September 30, 1998, he then worked as an adjutant of the Stralsund district command and then returned to his main regiment as a prime lieutenant (since November 17, 1896). Edelbüttel acted there from September 13, 1899 as a regimental adjutant. He was transferred to Rastenburg on June 18, 1902 as adjutant of the 3rd Infantry Brigade, and in this function he was promoted to captain on September 12, 1902 . After three years he was transferred to Königsberg in the infantry regiment "Duke Karl von Mecklenburg-Strelitz" (6th East Prussian) No. 43 , where he was appointed company commander on October 1, 1905 . In the same function, Edelbüttel was transferred to the infantry regiment "Graf Dönhoff" (7th East Prussian) No. 44 in Goldap on October 18, 1909 and promoted to major on December 20, 1910 . As such, on October 26, 1912, he was appointed commander of the 2nd Battalion of the Infantry Regiment "General Field Marshal Prince Friedrich Karl of Prussia" (8th Brandenburg) No. 64 in Prenzlau .
With the outbreak of the First World War and the mobilization that had taken place , Edelbüttel came with his battalion on the Western Front a . a. used in the conquest of Liège . On October 25, 1914, Edelbüttel was given command of the regiment that subsequently relocated to the Eastern Front and there u. a. fought south of Tarnopol during the Kerensky offensive . At the beginning of 1918 the regiment returned to the western front, where Edelsbüttel was promoted to colonel on July 15, 1918 .
After the end of the war, Edelbüttel led his regiment back home. There the demobilization took place in Königsberg from December 7th to 15th, 1918 and finally the dissolution on July 12th, 1919. Edelbüttel was taken over into the Reichswehr and was initially commander of the Reichswehr Rifle Regiment 4. He then took over on October 1, 1920 as commander of the 4th (Prussian) Infantry Regiment . Edelsbüttel was promoted to major general on March 20, 1922 and at the same time appointed Infantry Leader III based in Berlin . He resigned this post on January 31, 1925 and was subsequently appointed Lieutenant General Inspector of the Infantry while being promoted at the same time . At the same time he was promoted to General of the Infantry on January 31, 1927, he retired from active service and retired.
