Gregor Stein (born January 29, 1989 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German - Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with ERC Sonthofen in the ice hockey league since the 2016/17 season .

Career

Stein began his career in the U20 team of the Wiener Eislöwen-Verein , for which he played four games in his first season. During the 2004/05 season he was in the senior team for the first time, with which he played in the second highest Austrian ice hockey league , the National League. In the summer of 2005, the defender returned to his hometown Freiburg. There Stein initially ran for the junior team of the EHC Freiburg , before he took part in the game operations of the 2nd Bundesliga with the professional team in the 2005/06 season . There the left shooter came on a total of 21 missions in which he could not achieve a scorer point.

Furthermore, Gregor Stein played in the same season for the second team of the EHC Freiburg in the Regionalliga , as well as with the youth team in the Junior Bundesliga. Due to the good performances that the defender showed in the various teams, the then 17-year-old got a contract offer from Eisbären Berlin, which he finally accepted and in 2006 moved to the German Ice Hockey League . Those responsible for the polar bears initially only used the trained defender in their junior team, the Eisbären Juniors Berlin , in the upper league . In the summer of 2009, he joined the fourth division club Blue Lions Leipzig before moving to the Saale Bulls Halle a year later .

In the summer of 2011 he decided to return to Austria and was signed by the national league team ATSE Graz . From January 2012 Gregor Stein was under contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen and played a few games for the Wild Boys Chemnitz with a sponsorship license during the 2012/13 season .

In August 2013 he was signed by the Kassel Huskies . For the 2014/2015 season he moved to ESV Kaufbeuren .
