Greis is a place in Semmering region in Lower Austria , and locality of the municipality Schottwien in District Neunkirchen .

geography

The scattered settlement is located in southern Lower Austria at an altitude of 850  m and is the last place about one kilometer before the Semmering Pass . The village has almost 40 buildings with around 60 residents (as of 2001). The former Gasthof Bärenwirt belongs to the local area .

Directly below the location of the east portal is Semmering vertices tunnel of Semmering expressway S 6, in the old Semmeringstrasse rises (national road L 4168, ex. B 306 Semmering replacement road ) on the Semmering height.
