Gretchen Mol (born November 8, 1972 in Deep River , Connecticut ) is an American actress .

life and career

The daughter of an artist and a school principal was discovered by her future manager for a Coca-Cola advertisement while she was doing a job in a restaurant . She gained greater popularity in 1998 when she starred alongside Matt Damon in Rounders and then graced the cover of Vanity Fair . Her most important role to date was directed by Mary Harron in The Notorious Bettie Page , in which she played the famous pin-up girl of the 1950s, Bettie Page .

In the US remake of the television series Life on Mars - Trapped in the 70s , Gretchen Mol played the role of Annie Norris, a policewoman in New York in the 1970s (the series was canceled after one season) from October 2008. From 2010 to 2014 she appeared on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire .

Gretchen Mol has been married to director Tod Williams since 2004 . The couple have two children together.
