Gretna is a city in Gadsden County in the US state of Florida with 1460 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Gretna is about 5 km northwest of Quincy and about 40 km northwest of Tallahassee .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1460 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 583 households. The population density was 298 inh. / Km². 4.6% of the population described themselves as whites, 83.8% as African American and 0.6% as Indians . 10.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.0% to several ethnic groups. 13.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 26.6% of all households lived in 42.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 78.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.01 people and the average family size was 3.40 people.
32.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 28.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 33 years. 46.4% of the population were male and 53.6% were female.

In 2000, English was the first language of 92.19% of the population and 7.81% spoke Spanish .
