The Great Mountain Prize of Germany 1930 (also ADAC Mountain Record 1930 ) was held on August 17, 1930 as part of the Freiburg hill climb. It was advertised as an open international hill climb for motorcycles and international hill climb for automobiles as part of the 1930 European Hill Climb Championship . About 90 drivers competed in the races for motorcycles, which were organized according to the FICM statutes .

The 12 km long Schauinsland high road between Freiburg - Günterstal and the Schauinsland pass served as the route . The difference in altitude between start and finish was approx. 800 m. The event took place under poor weather conditions and attracted around 60,000 spectators on race day.

The city of Freiburg awarded an honorary prize for the best time of all drivers. For the best time of all motorcycles, 3000  Reichsmarks (today corresponds to approx. 11,000  euros ), for the best time of each class are 300 Reichsmarks (today approx. 1,100 euros) and a surcharge of another 700 Reichsmarks (today approx best time exposed within the category. In addition, various ADAC cups and medals were awarded for successes and best times.

The best time of the day among all starters (motorcycles and automobiles) and at the same time a new course record was achieved by the Brit Tom Bullus on a 500 cm³ NSU with 9 minutes and 19.3 seconds, which corresponds to an average speed of 77.20 km / h. He improved Huldreich Heusser's record from last year by 24.9 seconds.

Rudolf Caracciola won the sports car category in a Mercedes-Benz . With 9 minutes and 38 seconds he drove the best time of all sports cars and at the same time a new record in this class. For the course of the great race cars before a duel between was Hans Stuck at Austro-Daimler and the Monegasque Louis Chiron was expected. However, despite being named, Chiron did not compete, as allegedly no car was available to him. Stuck had bad luck in the course of the racing cars over 2000 and up to 8000 cm³ displacement : the engine of his car blocked for a short time, which cost him valuable time and finally brought him second behind the winner Heinrich-Joachim von Morgen ( Bugatti ).
