Guido Gorges (born June 8, 1973 in Heiligenstadt , Thuringia ) is a former German soccer player and current coach .

Life

Gorges was born on June 8, 1973 in Heiligenstadt im Eichsfeld in what was then the GDR . He began his career in 1979 at the age of six at Traktor Geismar . His next club was Motor Heiligenstadt , also in Eichsfeld. Parallel to his football career Gorges began his training as a paver in the civil service in Geismar . In 1987 he moved from there to the former GDR upper division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . Until 1992 Guido Gorges played in the youth of Erfurt.

In 2007 Gorges trained as a masseur , which he successfully passed. He cited the reason for the training that he “wanted to get to know the anatomy of the body better”. He currently lives with his family in Dresden .

Career

Player career

For the 1992/93 season , the defender made the leap into the first team of Rot-Weiß Erfurt. He played 17 games in his first season and with third place just barely missed promotion to the regional league , which was made second in the following season. This season Gorges scored one goal in five games. After another season with 15 regional league games and two goals, he left the club for SC Göttingen 05 in the Lower Saxony Oberliga. He played 28 games and scored three goals.

For the 1996/97 season Gorges moved to the North Thuringian regional league club Wacker Nordhausen . This season was his highest-scoring season in his entire career; the 1.94 m tall central defender scored seven goals in 30 league games.

The TSV 1860 Munich noticed the "rustic defense line", and so the Munich Bundesliga team signed him from the regional league. In three years, Guido Gorges scored one goal in 28 games. At the same time, he scored three goals in 48 games for the TSV amateur team in three seasons . In July 2000 Gorges moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SpVgg Greuther Fürth . Here he played nine games until the winter break of the 2000/01 season .

Then in January 2001 Gorges moved to the second division Hannover 96 at the request of the then coach Horst Ehrmantraut . By the end of the season, the defender had played nine times for the Reds . But about a week before the start of the season, Gorges contracted a syndesmosis ligament that left him out for three to four months. After the injury had healed, he wanted to change and had several offers from the 2nd Bundesliga; the president of the club, Martin Kind , initially wanted to "but not let him go", but loaned him to the second division competitor 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in January 2002 .

He stayed in Schweinfurt until the end of the 2001/02 season and played 14 times before the defender returned to Hannover 96, who were now in the Bundesliga. However, Gorges broke his metatarsus during preparation, which is why he was injured again for several months and in the following Bundesliga season, until the end of the first half of the season after the build-up training, hardly got a chance and only played once.

At the beginning of the second half of 2002/03 he left the Hanoverians and went to rival Eintracht Braunschweig , who played in the 2nd division. However, it did not last long here either; after 13 games until the end of the 2002/03 season, Gorges left Eintracht for SV Wehen Wiesbaden .

After a disappointing first season in 2003/04 with only five games, Guido Gorges became a regular in his second season with the Wiesbaden team; he played 28 games and scored two goals. But he lost it in his third season and only played three times. Gorges played one season in the Sachsenliga at FV Dresden 06 before he ended his pure playing career.

Coaching career

His first coaching position was from 2008 to 2010 at VfB Hellerau-Klotzsche . Then the now 37-year-old "completely surprising" moved in August 2010 to the bottom of the table in the district league Niederbayern Ost , SV Hohenau , where he also played as a player. The former professional led the relegation-threatened club to the relegation place, but they failed there at SpVgg Pleinting , whereupon they were relegated to the district league. In two seasons, Gorges only played five times due to knee problems. He also scored 15 goals in twelve games for the second team, whose coach Gorges was also in the 2010/11 season.

After the Hohenauer had lost three times in a row, he left the club after the 3: 4 defeat against TSV-DJK Oberdiendorf in early May 2012. He then went to DJK Karlsbach in the A-Class Waldkirchen in summer 2012 , where he played as a player and acted as a trainer. During the season, Guido Gorges played six times and scored one goal. Due to family problems, he ended his engagement with the table leader up until then.
