Career

Forsling went through the youth department of his home club Linköpings HC up to his debut in the men's team in the Svenska Hockeyligan in the 2014/15 season .

After he was selected in the fifth round in the fifth round of the Vancouver Canucks from the National Hockey League in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft , the Canucks had ceded his transfer rights to the Chicago Blackhawks in January 2015 , while Adam Clendening was given to the Canadian West coast taxes. In May 2016, Chicago finally signed the defender, where he was able to secure a place in the NHL squad at the beginning of the 2016/17 season . The rest of the season he spent in roughly equal parts in the NHL and the Blackhawks' farm team , the Rockford IceHogs , in the American Hockey League (AHL). In the following two seasons, too, the Swede commuted between the NHL and AHL squads, where he completed around 40 NHL games as in his rookie year . When his contract expired in the summer of 2019, Forsling was transferred to the Carolina Hurricanes in June 2019 together with his compatriot Anton Forsberg . In return, the Chicago Blackhawks received Calvin de Haan and Aleksi Saarela .

For his home country, Forsling completed the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2013 , the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2013 as well as the U18 Junior World Championship in 2014 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2015 .
