Gustav Hofmann (politician, 1827)

Gustav Martin Theodor Georg Hofmann (born November 10, 1827 in Hungen ; † November 13, 1897 in Gießen ) was a Hessian judge and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Gustav Hofmann was the son of the district judge Karl Hofmann and his wife Friederike Caroline Wilhelmine Louise, née Koch. Hofmann, who was a Protestant, married Ida nee Trapp.

He studied law and became a regional court assessor at the Friedberg regional court . In 1871 he became a judge at the Alsfeld district criminal court and assessor at the regional court there . In 1877 he changed to the district criminal court or city court in Darmstadt in the same function. In 1879 he became district judge in Gießen, where he became director of the district court in 1892 . He retired in 1894.

From 1877 to 1878 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of the city of Alsfeld .
