Friedrich Bernhard Gustav Staude (born June 26, 1843 in Wendorf, today: Garz / Rügen , † February 15, 1909 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German local politician and long-time Lord Mayor of Halle.

Life

Staude did his Abitur at the Pädagogium in Putbus and studied law in Heidelberg and Berlin. After working as a court assessor , from 1873 he was the legal counsel of the city of Liegnitz .

Towards the end of 1874 he was elected mayor in Hamm appointed, which he remained until the 1,881th In 1881 he moved to Halle (Saale) as second mayor . After the unexpected death of the Lord Mayor Richard Wilhelm Bertram in 1882, Staude succeeded him as Lord Mayor. Staude held this office until 1906, during which time he also represented his city in the Prussian manor house .

During Staude's tenure, important developments in the city of Halle became an industrial city. His area of ​​responsibility included the construction of the tram, the industrial port, the gas works on the powder pastures , the city power station and the large city theater. The number of residents more than doubled to around 170,000 during his tenure.

With his resignation as mayor in 1906, the council of the city of Staude granted the city of Halle honorary citizenship. Gustav-Staude-Straße in Halle is named after him.

Staude died on February 15, 1909 in Halle and is buried there in the Stadtgottesacker (inner field, Department III).
