Herbert Schuberth

Herbert Schuberth (born November 4, 1920 in Jonsdorf , Bohemian Switzerland ) is a former German politician ( SED ). Among other things, he was Lord Mayor of the city of Halle (Saale) .

Life

Schuberth was born into a working-class family. He attended elementary and vocational school and trained as a plumber and fitter . He was a member of the Workers' Gymnastics Club and the Socialist Youth of Czechoslovakia . From 1939 to 1945 he had to do military service in the German armed forces. He lost his right arm in the war.

After the end of the war, Schuberth initially worked in a sugar factory in 1945/46. In 1945 he joined the Communist Party of Germany and in 1946 became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1946 to 1948 he was an instructor in the SED district leadership in Delitzsch , then in 1948 employed at the Landsberg police station and in 1948/49 managing director of the CT Lichtspiele Landsberg.

From February 1949 to June 1951 he served as mayor of the city of Landsberg, from July 1951 to May 1952 as mayor of the city of Wettin . Then he was chairman of the council of the city district II of the city of Halle. From 1952 to 1955 he studied at the SED party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science . From 1955 to 1957 Schuberth was Lord Mayor of the city of Halle.
