Klaus Peter Rauen

Klaus Peter Rauen (born April 16, 1935 in Düsseldorf ; † May 8, 2018 in Bonn ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Rauen studied law and in 1963 at the University of Cologne with a thesis on the Right of Shareholders in Italian law to Dr. iur. PhD . After the second state examination in law, he worked as a lawyer and judge at the Bonn Regional Court . In 1965 Rauen switched to the municipal service and worked in various management positions, including a. from 1973 to 1986 as head of the school and youth department and then until 1991 as city director in Bonn . From 1991 to 2000 he was Lord Mayor of Halle (Saale) ; he was succeeded by Ingrid Häussler . His withdrawal from politics was forced because Saxony-Anhalt required its mayors to resign at 65. Since his retirement in 2000, Rauen has been working as a lawyer again in Halle.

Rauen sat down during his tenure u. a. for the renovation of the old town center of Halle, the redesign of today's Heide-Süd district and, after his tenure, against the closure of the Ammendorf wagon building . He took over the chairmanship of the board of trustees 1200 years Halle eV for the city anniversary in 2006.

Rauen was a board member of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). Since 1955 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Alania Bonn , later also the KDSt.V. Rheno-Saxonia (Köthen) zu Halle, all in CV .

The establishment of the “Stiftung Volkssolidarität Halle” was initiated by him. According to the resolution of the general assembly on October 16, 2012, it became legally effective on January 1, 2013.

Rauen died on the night of May 9th after a long and serious illness. He was born on May 22nd at the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (corridor 32 no. 190/192) in the grave of his late wife Barbara Angelika, née. Ernst (1965–2003) is buried.
