Ingrid Häussler

Ingrid Häußler (born March 18, 1944 in Görlitz ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1998 to 2000 she was Minister for Spatial Planning and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and then Mayor of the City of Halle (Saale) until 2007 ; she was succeeded by Dagmar Szabados (SPD).

Live and act

After Ingrid Häußler had completed her secondary school leaving certificate in 1960, she completed an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant, which she successfully completed in 1962. In the same year she joined the chemical-glass-ceramics union in the FDGB . In 1963 she made up her Abitur at an evening school and then began studying chemistry at the TU Dresden that same year . In 1968 she completed her studies with a degree in chemistry. After completing her studies, she became a research assistant with responsibility for personnel in chemical research at the VEB Chemische Werke Buna combine . In 1989 she joined the SPD. In 1990 she was elected chairwoman of the works council. In the same year she joined the chemical-paper-ceramics union . From 1994 to May 1995 she held this office again, but as an exempt works councilor.

Political activity

Ingrid Häussler joined the SPD during the fall of the Wall in November 1989. She was active in the party in many executive offices. Since February 1990 she was a member of the SPD district committee in Halle. Since August 1990 she has been a member of the state board of the SPD Saxony-Anhalt , between 1992 and 1998 she was deputy state chairman.

From 1990 to 1994, Ingrid Häußler was a city councilor in Halle in terms of local politics. From 1994 to 1995 she was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . There she was Vice President of the State Parliament and a member of the Committee on Economics and Technology.

From May 1995 to May 1998 she was regional president in the regional council of Halle . On May 26, 1998, she moved into the cabinet of the state government of Saxony-Anhalt as Minister for Regional Planning and the Environment under Prime Minister Reinhard Höppner . She held this office until April 2000. Since May 1, 2000 she was elected mayor of the city of Halle (Saale). Häussler did not run again for the mayoral election in 2006. Dagmar Szabados (SPD) was elected as her successor and her term of office began on May 1, 2007.

On October 21, 2009 Ingrid Häußler was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for her voluntary work .

Häussler, who now lives in Halle, is divorced and has three children.
