Christoph Anders

Christoph Anders (born February 16, 1936 in Mittelsteine , Glatz district , Lower Silesia Province ) is a former German politician of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). From 1984 to 1989 he was Lord Mayor of Halle (Saale) .

Life

The worker's son Christoph Anders completed an apprenticeship as an electrician after high school in 1956 . Until 1959 he served as a seaman in the People's Navy of the GDR. In 1959, Anders joined the SED. In 1959/60 he worked as an organizational instructor and then studied until 1963 at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg . In 1963 he graduated in political science and became deputy chairman for interior affairs of the council of the Zeitz district .

From 1966 to 1970 Anders completed a distance learning course at the Humboldt University in Berlin and became a qualified lawyer . From 1971 to 1976 he was first deputy chairman of the council of the Zeitz district and from 1976 to 1978 chairman of the council of the Saalkreis . From 1978 to 1984 Anders was first deputy mayor of Halle an der Saale. In 1982/83 he completed a further course of studies at the SED party college "Karl Marx" and was, as successor to Hans Pflüger , from 1984 to May 1989 mayor of Halle (Saale).
