The An der Stenner grammar school is one of three municipal grammar schools in the Iserlohn city area , alongside the Märkisches grammar school Iserlohn and the Letmathe grammar school in Iserlohn . The school has an average of four classes. The grammar school cooperates with the Märkisches grammar school, among other things with partially joint upper-level courses.

The school is located close to the center, next to the pedestrian zone in Iserlohn Mitte. School sports take place more often in and at external facilities. The Almelohalle, a sports hall near the school, the Seilersee Stadium, a sports field and the SeilerSeeBad , an indoor sports pool next to the Seilersee Stadium, are used.

The grammar school at the Stenner Europaschule has been in operation since November 2011 .

history

On June 22nd, 1852, the school's founder, Fanny van Hees, received a license to set up a secondary school for girls , and on July 5th, lessons were held for the first time in the “private girls' school”. In 1870, the city of Iserlohn took over as the “Städtische Höhere Mädchenenschule”. In 1909 the school was recognized as a lyceum . After six years it led to maturity via the Obersekunda . In 1928 the expansion to the upper lyceum was approved, in the Easter period of 1931 the first 28 middle-class women passed the school leaving examination . After the National Socialists came to power in 1935, after eight years of high school for girls , the female pupils attained university entrance qualifications .

Due to the occupation status as well as denazification and democratization, school operations had to be temporarily suspended on April 14, 1945 and resumed on January 7, 1946. Until 1965, the school was called the “girls' high school and women's high school ”.

In 1966, the increasing need for space made it necessary to move the school. At the same time, the name was changed to "New-language girls' grammar school and grammar school for women's education". Between 1973 and 1975, with the introduction of the “differentiated intermediate level”, the new language grammar school and grammar school for women's education were abolished. With the introduction of the "differentiated upper level" with basic and advanced courses in 1975, the first boys (grade 11) came to school. In addition, boys were accepted into class 5 for the first time, which is why the name was changed to "Gymnasium An der Stenner".

For the 2001/2002 school year, a new school building ( House 2 , Stennerstraße 1) was inaugurated for teaching the upper secondary level . Since there is a street between the school grounds and House 2, the building is only used by high school students.

Stefan Schmoldt has been the headmaster since the 2015/2016 school year (as successor to Heinz-Dieter Klusmann), and Christian Fischer (as the successor to Detlef Goeke) since the 2016/17 school year .

Trip concept

Class 5 - introductory drive

Shortly after the start of the school year, the introductory trip for the new fifth graders usually takes place in mid-September on the Stenner. The aim of the trip is that the new pupils who have come together from different elementary schools can "sniff" each other with games, sports and fun. In addition to getting to know the students, the program also includes getting to know the school, its class sponsors and the “Lions Quest” supporting program. The students are visited by the StennerKids choir director, who brings the students closer to the lower school choir musically, and the school social worker and media scouts also do preventative work on dealing with digital media.

Grade 8 - skiing leisure in Jochgrimm

For many years the entire level 8 (up to the introduction of the G8 level 9) has been traveling to Jochgrimm in South Tyrol for nine days together with their class and sports teachers on the last day of the Christmas holidays . The school-friendly hotel is located almost 2000 meters above sea level, with guaranteed snow, directly on the slopes, which are very suitable for beginners and advanced skiers. In addition to learning from skiing and snowboarding , which flows into the sport note, are activities such as cross country , a trip to Cavalese , a hike to Gurndin Alm with common cocoa-drinking, a night hike, disco, snow competitions and climbing the white horn on the program.

After founder Schauß retired, the StennerKids have been singing under the direction of music teacher Philip Lütz since the 2017/2018 school year. Students in grades 5 to 7 can become members of the StennerKids.

Staccato

2007 Music teacher Corinna Tenbrüggen founded the now 40-strong middle and high school choir staccato . The repertoire includes pieces from the fields of musical, pop, jazz and sacred music and is based on the various performances, such as B. school church services, school concerts or special performances such as the annual visit to the Iserlohner Altenzentrum Tersteegenhaus . Furthermore, every autumn there is a multi-day excursion to the South Westphalia Music Education Center, which is intended to rehearse the pieces intensively and prepare for upcoming performances.

School band

The school band Halz Maul und spiel , consisting of Baum, Yannick, Holly and Tommy, formed from an AG band in spring 2001 . On October 1st, 2004 the first CD Greif mich was released with five self-written songs. On November 3, 2005, the viewers of the television station KiKA voted it the best school band in Germany. In 2007 they signed a contract with the major label Universal , produced a music video for the soon-to-be-released first single "Immer (the devil shits)", which was also shown on VIVA . They also managed to get to number 67 in the German single charts .

Big Band

On a multi-day excursion by the staccato choir in October 2019, a big band consisting of several students and teachers formed, who mainly play the jazz repertoire. Since the first appearance at the school concert in November 2019, the number of members has increased; in addition to students and teachers, employees, alumni and parents also play. Almost 20 music-loving members of the school community are currently part of the big band.

Recording studio

Since November 2019, the Stenner-Gymnasium has its own studio in the forum building, which can record and play sound through the in-house school network anywhere in the school building. This sound system is mainly used in music rooms. While an ensemble plays its sounds in the music room on the first floor of the main building, the music can be recorded and edited in the basement of the forum building and then played back to the sound system in the music room.

Further

At a school concert in the summer of 2004, the teachers' band “Bad Noise Teachers” formed, but they no longer officially exist. On the step-by-step journey of the 8th grade to Jochgrimm in 2015, the teachers' band “Lean Bread” was formed from three teachers, which was able to gain new members over and over again. When a founding member retired in July 2016, this band also officially dissolved.

The school also has a recorder group, a small classical ensemble, a drum group ( StennerDrums ), three class orchestras, a music production group and an event / technology group.
