The Solingen Grünewald stop is a stop in the Bergisch city of Solingen . It was opened in 2006 and, together with the nearby Solingen Mitte station, replaced the former Solingen main station , which has not been used since then.
location
The Grünewald stop is located southwest of the center of Solingen. It is located west of the former Solingen main train station on Grünewalder Straße , Bundesstraße 229 and arterial road to the Höhscheid district and the neighboring town of Langenfeld . Above the train stop there is a bus stop of the same name, which connects to the lines of the Solingen municipal utility , including a bus line of the Solingen trolleybus .
history
When the old main station was shut down as part of the Regionale 2006 , a regional structural funding program, it was replaced by the two more easily accessible successor stations Solingen Mitte and Solingen Grünewald . The second reason for the closure was the critical structural condition of the station. At the new Solingen Grünewald station, a traffic junction was created between the train traffic and the buses of the Solingen municipal utility . The area around the former main station has been converted. The Südpark was built in its vicinity , with restaurants, green spaces and artist studios in the former goods halls.
The old Solingen main station was closed in May 2006, and the new Grünewald stop was opened at the same time. To the timetable change In December 2006 the station in Solingen- Ohligs was renamed Solingen Hauptbahnhof due to its importance as Solingen's most important railway junction .
