Ann Smyrner
Ann Smyrner , actually Hanne Smyrner (born November 3, 1934 in Frederiksberg ; † August 29, 2016 in Andalusia ), was a Danish film actress who mainly worked in German-Austrian and Italian films. Her father, Poul Smyrner (1899–1978), was a leading actor at the Royal State Theater in Copenhagen , her mother was a concert singer.
Professional
In 1955 and 1956 she attended the drama school of the theater in Århus , where she made her debut as Gulnare in the fairy tale drama Aladin by the Danish poet Adam Oehlenschläger . At the age of 21 she received the Aarhus Theater Prize. Smyrner came to Munich at the age of 22 and was selected as Lilli for the film Lilli - a girl from the big city , after a first role in Paul Verhoeven's comedy Von Allen Loved (alongside Magda Schneider , Johannes Heesters and Chariklia Baxevanos ) in 1958 . although she still spoke little German and the part should actually have been filled with a German actress. It was a kind of crime film parody about Bild-Lilli , who became known in the 1950s as a comic series in " Bild " and for which the newspaper advertised a competition. This film Smyrners Image was as blonde and bombshell set for a long time.
In total, she starred in more than 40 films, including in semi-erotic B-productions. However, she also had some serious shoots with well-known actors such as Götz George , OW Fischer , Lex Barker and Klaus Kinski . Romance in Venice (1962) was one of the rare films in which she got the lead role of a woman in love.
Smyrner often shot in the Cinecittà studios in Rome, including the westerns . You pay the last bill yourself . In the Botanical Garden of Copenhagen she shot two science fiction films with the American director Sidney W. Pink , which today have a certain cult status, Reptilicus and Journey to the Seventh Planet .
When she was only offered small supporting roles in music and sex comedies, Ann Smyrner withdrew from the film business in 1972. During a hospital stay she had a conversion experience and so in 1973 she began to study theology.
Private
Smyrner had lived in Spain for many years. Her friend had been the Danish journalist Ole Hansen for 35 years. She had also had Spanish citizenship for several years. Completely withdrawn from the acting business, she dealt with esotericism and religion. Ann Smyrner wrote books about it and made lecture tours.
