Hannes Loos
Hannes Loos (* 1913 in Weimar ; † February 1987 in Düsseldorf ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
life and work
Hannes Loos, born in Weimar, attended elementary school and grammar school in Bochum , since his father was employed there as concertmaster with the Philharmonic Orchestra . First he did an apprenticeship as a poster painter and returned to his hometown Weimar in 1933 to study at the University of Fine Arts there , until 1935 as a master student of Walther Klemm .
After the Second World War , Hannes Loos settled in Düsseldorf. Here he became a member of the Düsseldorf Artists 'Association and the Malkasten Artists' Association , with numerous exhibition participations. He was also a member of the “New Duisburger Künstlerbund” founded in 1957, which a short time later renamed itself the “Duisburg Secession” and the “Bochumer Künstlerbund”.
Hannes Loos was a painter, draftsman , graphic artist and worked in many techniques, including etchings , woodcuts and linocuts . His subjects were portraits , motifs of musicians and instruments, nudes , some abstract , and landscapes as well as impressions from his study trips through Europe. And he also designed stage sets for the Kammerspiele in Essen .
Loos earned his living teaching and as a freelance graphic artist. He worked as a lecturer at the adult education centers in Düsseldorf and Duisburg and also had private students. The large number of his students included: Gottfried Heimrich (1924–2011), Ursula Kaechele (* 1939), Gerhard Bereden (* 1940), Bernd Jußenhoven (* 1942), Edith Laue (* 1949), Ulrike Schlösser (* 1950 ), Renate Rothe (* 1952).
Hannes Loos' grave is located in the Stoffeln cemetery in the south of Düsseldorf. His wife Margrit Loos (* 1923) was buried at his side in 2012.
