Hans-Georg Bürger
Hans-Georg Bürger (born April 1, 1952 in Welschbillig ; † July 22, 1980 in Amsterdam ) was a German automobile racing driver who began his career with the title of the Renault R5 Cup.
Career
Hans-Georg Bürger drove in the German racing championship in 1979 and became German runner-up in Formula 3 in the same year . In 1980 he contested races in Formula 2 and the Procar series . At the Le Mans 24-hour race in a BMW M1 , he finished 15th together with Hans-Joachim Stuck and Dominique Lacaud .
On July 20, 1980, Hans-Georg Bürger had an accident in a Tiga F280 -BMW at a race for the Formula 2 European Championship in Zandvoort, the Netherlands . During the warm-up , he came off the slope and was hit in the head by a post from the safety fence. He died of his injuries two days later.
