Hansjürgen Pohland
Hansjürgen Pohland (alternative name Jason Pohland , born December 4, 1934 in Berlin ; † May 17, 2014 in Mandelieu-la-Napoule , Alpes-Maritimes , France) was a German film director and producer .
Life
With 20 years Pohland founded his own production company and turned in a few years, numerous short films, some of which as a commission for the Berlin Senate emerged. In 1961 he made his feature film debut with Tobby . In the 1960s he devoted himself increasingly to work as a film producer and worked with Herbert Vesely and Michael Hausthar , among others .
The signatory of the Oberhausen Manifesto had his greatest success in 1966 with the film adaptation of the novella Katz und Maus by Günter Grass with Wolfgang Neuss and Lars and Peter Brandt , the sons of Willy Brandt , in the leading roles.
In 2012 Pohland made his last film with the documentary Die Rebellen von Oberhausen .
Pohland died on the beach in Mandelieu-la-Napoule while attending the Cannes Film Festival 2014 .
