Hans Höllerich

Hans Höllerich (born January 31, 1916 in Rehau ; † July 14, 1989 ibid) was the school director and, in the context of his local history research, writer , dialect researcher , archivist of Rehau, head of the local museum and initiator of working groups. He combined his cultural commitment with artistic creation.

Life dates

Hans Höllerich studied at the teachers' college in Bayreuth until 1937 . From 1937 to 1939 he did the Reich Labor Service and military service and was then immediately drafted into military service in Russia on the central section of the Eastern Front . After several wounds in the spring of 1945, he was transferred to a pioneer division in the southern Black Forest, where he was taken prisoner by the French, with stays in Vaucouleurs , Erquy , and Saint Martin on the Ile de Ré . After returning from French captivity in 1945, he began teaching at the elementary school in Rehau, and from 1946 to 1961 he also taught at the Rehau vocational school. In 1952 he was seconded to the then newly founded State Middle School, in whose establishment he played a major role. The name Markgraf-Friedrich -Schule goes back to his initiative. For 25 years he accompanied this school as a teacher with the subject connection German, handicrafts and art education, from 1967 as deputy principal and from 1974 as director, from the difficult construction work at the beginning to the extensive school expansion in the years of school space shortage. In 1978, one year after his 40th service anniversary, at the same time in the year of his 25th service anniversary at the Staatliche Realschule, he retired. He is the father of Reinhard Höllerich .

Local history

His local history work, which he began at an early age, and his artistic work resulted in a large number of publications and activities over the years: lectures and courses in the adult education center, art exhibitions with watercolors and graphics and the renewal of costumes in Rehau in 1955. In 1956 he organized one at the secondary school Local history study group as a student group. Since 1963 he was head of a local history study group that was formed in 1959 within the Fichtelgebirgsverein and later subordinated itself to the Historical Association for Upper Franconia . He has been working on the Bavarian Dictionary since 1953 and on the East Franconian Dictionary in Erlangen since 1954 . In 1965 he was awarded the Schmeller Medal. Since 1950 he has been engaged in practical work in local research, the subject of research were the castle ruins Gattendorf and Haideck (1962–63), the recording of land monuments in the Rehau area from 1962, the castle ruins Hirschstein (1968–70) and the beer cellar Schillerplatz 1970. A Another project was the photo reproduction and evaluation of the so-called Wunsiedler manuscript on the history of Rehau. Hans Höllerich was involved in the excavations of the Hallstatt urns near Osseck am Wald and in 1973 in the excavation of the Rehau castle stables . He got involved in the development of the city archive and had been an archive manager in the district of Rehau since 1968 . He also took part in the 550th anniversary of Rehau in 1977. Since 1982 he was the founder of the regional group of the Historical Society of Upper Franconia . In 1985 he was the founder and director of the Rehauer Heimatstuben with elementary contributions to this museum, e.g. B. the production of two plastic city models on a scale of 1: 600 before and after the city fire of 1817. He was awarded the Citizens Medal of the City of Rehau in 1985 and the Medal of Honor of the Upper Franconia District in 1986 .

Artistic creation

The artistic work was never carried out as a freelance activity in consideration of the professional activity. His work includes:

  • Draft for the marble mosaic on the outer wall of the Rehau vocational school
  • Decoration of the chancel with the figures of the evangelists in the reredos of the parish church in Rehau, made in 1966
  • Landscape of home in watercolors, oil paintings, woodcuts and wood engravings

  • Creation of the models for the bronze relief panels at the Staatliche Realschule Rehau, Gutenbergschule, Verbandsberufsschule etc. a.
