Hans Peters (born August 2, 1885 in Jauer, today Jawor / Silesia , † June 12, 1978 in Bargfeld-Stegen (Stormarn district)) was a German graphic artist , painter and art teacher .

Life

Hans Peters was the son of a teacher. He attended elementary school and later high school in his place of birth. Between 1900 and 1905 he trained as a teacher in Sagan . In the following three years he taught as a village school teacher in Silesia . From 1908 to 1910 he attended the Berlin Academy and then spent a year demonstrating his skills as a drawing teacher at the German school in Madrid . In 1911 he returned to Jauer for a short time. In 1912 he followed Sebald Schwarz 's invitation to teach at the Oberrealschule zum Dom in Lübeck as a drawing teacher. Between 1914 and 1916 he had to go to war and spent three years, until 1919, in British captivity. At the end of the year he returned to the Oberrealschule zum Dom, where he continued teaching until he was transferred to the Katharineum in 1926. In 1921 he married Ilse König, son Gerhard was born in 1922 and daughter Ruth in 1926. In 1933 he was dismissed from school service by the National Socialist high school authorities without explanation and from then on worked as a freelance artist . After the war, the Schleswig-Holstein state government awarded him the title of professor . His wife died in 1976.
