In 1996 he was elected to ninth place on the Landshut CSU city council list. Two years later he became group leader . Although Rampf enjoyed great popularity among the population, the CSU did not nominate him for Mayor in 2004. Then, the association founded specifically to collect "Citizens for Landshut" ahead of the mayoral elections signatures for the election manifesto "ProRampf". Finally, Rampf stood up for the "Citizens for Landshut" against the CSU candidate Ludwig Zellner and therefore resigned all party offices . He achieved 50.89% of the vote in the first ballot and has been the mayor of Landshut since January 1, 2005. In the Mayor elections on October 10, 2010, he was re-elected as a candidate for the CSU with 61.10% of the vote. In the mayor elections in October 2016, Rampf could not run again because he has reached the age limit for mayors in Bavaria . He supported the candidacy of the CSU city council member and member of the state parliament, Helmut Radlmeier .

Political career

Hans Rampf is a member of the CSU .

Further commitment

As a representative of the Bavarian Association of Cities , Hans Rampf sits on the Supervisory Board of the Bavarian Railway Company and was elected chairman of this body in 2014. He is currently chairman of the BRK district association in Landshut. Together with the district administrator of the Landshut district, Peter Dreier , he heads the “ Dialog Forum East-South Landshut Bypass in the course of the B15neu ”, which was set up on April 7, 2015 .

Political positions

During his time as Lord Mayor, Hans Rampf stood out for his closeness to the citizens, which he thanked for when he was re-elected in 2010 with a large number of votes. His political opponents also referred to him as the “citizen king”. As a great success during his twelve-year tenure, he was able to record a debt reduction of 34.6 million euros despite high investments in the renovation of vocational schools or the expansion of childcare. The Bernlochner complex was also acquired at the end of his term of office.

Castle elevator

Rampf suggested the construction of an elevator to the castle Trausnitz in which by the 14 October 2012 referendum was rejected. Opponents of the construction were of the opinion that Rampf wanted to secure above all a place in the city's history of Landshut with the project Castle elevator (as his predecessor Josef Deimer with the now named after him Hofbergtunnel did).

Energy policy

In 2010, Rampf campaigned for the shutdown of the Isar I nuclear power plant , which is 14 kilometers from Landshut. In addition, he implemented the conversion of the former waste incineration plant into a biomass cogeneration plant.

"Hospital merger"

During his election campaign to become mayor, he had formulated a political goal of close cooperation between the Achdorf district hospital and the Landshut clinic . After twelve years in office, he had to admit that there has been little progress here.

Public services of general interest

Like his predecessor Josef Deimer , Rampf speaks out against the privatization of the water supply in order to keep water prices constant.

West bypass to Landshut

During his time as Lord Mayor of Landshut, he had to accept a major defeat with the no for a western bypass in a referendum in 2012.
