Hans Ziegner-Gnuechel

Hans Ziegner-Gnüchtel (born April 19, 1859 in Leipzig ; † October 3, 1926 in Dresden ) was Mayor of Wilhelmshaven from 1896 to 1906 .

Ziegner-Gnüchtel first studied law in Leipzig , where he joined the Corps Lusatia Leipzig , then in Freiburg im Breisgau , where he joined the Corps Rhenania Freiburg , and finally back in Leipzig. He was married to Eva Louise Lemke from Leipzig.

With a doctorate in law, he was elected neutral in the Wilhelmshaven Citizens' Board after years of controversy; he was considered a man of balance, amiable and correct.

After the end of his term of office, the city of Wilhelmshaven named an excursion steamer Dr. Ziegner Gnuechel . The ship, a so-called municipal sea ​​bathing steamer , was built in 1906 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg and mainly sailed between Wilhelmshaven and Eckwarderhörne , but also as far as Helgoland . It was popularly called "goat club". It was sold to Rügen in 1928 .

After his time in Wilhelmshaven, Ziegner-Gnuechtel worked as the mayor of Tharandt before he settled there as a lawyer and notary. During the First World War he worked first as deputy district administrator in Wittmund / East Friesland, then in the same position in Quedlinburg . In the last years of his life, Ziegner-Gnüchtel worked as a legal advisor to the Association of Saxon Land and House Owners' Associations in Dresden.
