Hans von Leyser

Hans von Leyser (born November 28, 1855 in Simötzel ; † June 11, 1928 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Prussian Premier Lieutenant a. D. Hugo von Leyser (1820–1896) on Simötzel near Kolberg and his wife Marie, née Steffen († 1892).

Military career

Coming from the cadet corps, Leyser was transferred to the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot of the Prussian Army on April 15, 1875, as a characterized porter ensign. There he received the patent for his rank on December 14, 1875 and was promoted to second lieutenant on October 17, 1876 . In the further course of his military career Leyser rose to colonel on March 24, 1909 and commanded the 8th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 153 in Altenburg from June 2, 1909 to April 1, 1911 . He was then assigned to lead the 43rd Infantry Brigade inKassel . On May 1, 1912, when he was promoted to major general, he was appointed commander of this brigade . From July 4, 1914, he was employed as an inspector of the Landwehr inspection in Breslau .

During the First World War , Leyser was given the character of Lieutenant General on June 18, 1915 . As such, he had command of the 227th Infantry Division from February 3, 1917 , with which he participated in the fighting on the Western Front after they were set up . Leyser came here u. a. used in the Battle of the Aisne and during the German spring offensive in 1918. His achievements were honored in November 1917 by being awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class, with oak leaves and swords.

After the end of the war , he gave up his command with the demobilization on December 23, 1918 and was retired.

family

Leyser was married to Emilie, née von Wurmb . The later German infantry general and commanding general Ernst von Leyser (1889–1962) was his son.
