With the support of the former national player Cornelia Eichler, the first women's team rose to the Regionalliga Südost in 2015, to the Third League East in 2017 and to the Second Bundesliga South in 2018 . There are also four other women's, one men's and numerous youth teams.

Handball

Ansbach reached the finals of the German Field Handball Championship for the first time in the 1956 season , but was eliminated there in the preliminary round, as well as in the 1957 finals . 1958 did not qualify, in 1959 the team reached the quarter-finals of the finals.

In the following three years Ansbach was the measure of all things in German field handball, the TSV won the South German regional championship in men's field handball in 1960 and 1961 ; Ansbach won the title at the German championships in 1960 and 1962 , as well as being runner-up at the 1961 finals . There was also a fourth place in the final round in indoor handball in 1960 .

The TSV then reached two more finals ( 1963 and 1964 ), each of which failed in the quarter-finals at TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen , but the great days of Ansbach handball players were over. In 1967 Ansbach was one of the founding members of the short-lived field handball Bundesliga , but did not get beyond middle placements in the southern season of the league and had to accept relegation to the regional league in the 1969 season .

Since 2002 the handball departments of TSV 1860 Ansbach and TSV Fichte Ansbach have formed a gaming community, the HG Ansbach .

Third 2nd BBL Süd 1988

The 1st men's team of the basketball department at TSV 1860 Ansbach has been playing under a sponsor name as hapa Ansbach Piranhas since 2007 . In the past, the team was able to play in the 2nd basketball league group south, where they came back three years later after a season in the 2nd basketball league 1983/84 and the first in the 2nd basketball league in 1987/88 Took place after regular time. In the promotion round, they slipped to third place and missed promotion to the top division of the basketball division . In 1990 they were relegated and came back in the 2nd basketball league 1999/2000 in the second highest division, in which, however, they ended up being bottom of the table on a relegation zone. With the withdrawal of FC Bayern Munich , however, the class was kept in the south group and in the following years they also managed to stay in the league in terms of sport, although they did not get beyond places in the lower third of the table. In the 2. Basketball Bundesliga 2003/04 , however, after only four victories this season in 30 games, as bottom of the table, relegation followed. In 2007 they once again achieved promotion to the second highest division, which was now structured hierarchically as ProA and ProB instead of geographically as before. In the ProB 2007/08 , however, the third from last place in the table at the end of the season was not enough to keep up because there were four relegated teams. Since then, the hapa Ansbach Piranhas have been represented in the regional league.

Currently (2020) the basketball department has around 290 members, 255 participant cards (90th place in Germany), 13 teams, 12 of which are in play and 17 trainers.

Men 2 has been back in the Bayernliga Men Middle since the 2019/2020 season with Klaus Philipeit and Manfred Winterhalter as coaches.

And the women's team in the basketball department was led back to the Bayern League by coach Alexander Marzok. There the class is to be held with a mixture of experienced players and young talents.
