The haplogroup G is a haplogroup of the mitochondria ( mtDNA ) in human genetics .

It is an East Asian haplogroup. Today G can be found in its highest frequency in Northeast Siberia. Haplogroup G is also found in low frequency in some populations of northern East Asia and Central Asia . However, unlike other mitochondrial DNA haplogroups, which are typical for the population of northeast Asia as haplogroup A, haplogroup C and D haplogroup, haplogroup G was among the Indians in America not found.

The haplogroup G is divided into the subgroups G1 and G2a, which represent Coryaks and Itelmen .
