The haplogroup B is in the human genetics a haplogroup of mitochondria .

Subgroup B2 is one of five Indian haplogroups in America , the others are A, C, D and X.

Since the ancestors of the Native Americans emigrated to North and South America and, according to general opinion, came from Siberia, the haplogroups of the Indians and the Siberian population should match.

Haplogroup B is more common among Indians and in East Asia , but not in the modern northern Siberian population. However, it is widespread among the southern Siberians such as Tuvinians , Altaiians and Buryats and is also found in Mongols , Tibetans , Koreans and among the population of Japan , China , Vietnam , Malaysia , Taiwan , Indonesia , Madagascar , the Philippines , Melanesia and Micronesia and Polynesia .

In his popular book The Seven Daughters of Evas , Bryan Sykes names the first mother of this mtDNA haplogroup Ina.

family tree

The phylogenetic family tree of the subgroups of haplogroup B is based on a publication by Mannis van Oven and Manfred Kayser and subsequent scientific research.
