Harald Heinrich (born March 3, 1967 in Lindenberg im Allgäu ) is a German clergyman and Roman Catholic cathedral chapter and since 2012 - with an interruption of about one year during the episcopal vacancy in 2019/20 - vicar general in the diocese of Augsburg .

Life

Harald Heinrich grew up in Weißensberg in the Swabian district of Lindau . He attended the Bodensee-Gymnasium in the nearby district town of Lindau and graduated from high school there. Coming from a Catholic family that was more distant from the church, he came to the professional goal of a priestly or religious life through his religion teacher at the grammar school and open seminars offered by the diocese , the diocese of Augsburg . At the age of 19 he entered the seminary Augsburg and then studied in Augsburg and the Swiss Freiburg theology .

As part of the restructuring of the Episcopal Ordinariate in Augsburg, he has been head of the “Personnel / Planning” department since May 2011. On June 5, 2012, Harald Heinrich was appointed vicar general in Augsburg by Bishop Konrad Zdarsa as the successor to Karlheinz Knebel , while retaining the management of the “Personnel / Planning” department. Since 2013 he has been diocesan president of the sacristan's association of the diocese of Augsburg and since 2014 spiritual with the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent von Paul in Augsburg.

In addition, Harald Heinrich has been the chairman of the Caritas Council of the Diocese of Augsburg since the beginning of 2016, succeeding Peter C. Manz .

With the retirement of Bishop Konrad Zdarsa in July 2019 Heinrich's office as vicar general expired. Diocesan administrator Bertram Meier appointed him his permanent representative during the period of the vacancy of the Augsburg bishopric. After Bertram Meier's episcopal ordination on June 7, 2020, he appointed him his vicar general.
