Harald Leonhardt

Harald Leonhardt (born June 20, 1924 - † June 21, 2012 ) was a German architect .

Life

Leonhard completed his architecture studies with the academic degree of Dipl.-Ing. from. He worked in Hanover with the architects Edgar Schirmer and Siegfried Meyer in the joint office of Leonhardt Schirmer Meyer , also architects LSM , in the building at Hohenzollernstrasse 26 . The architects Reinhard Beiermann and Henning Meyer were later included in the office community, which in the end operated solely under the name Reinhard Beiermann & Henning Meyer Architekten LSM . Harald Leonhardt was a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).

In 1960 he and Arno JL Bayer won the competition to build a new town hall with an integrated theater hall in Delmenhorst , but the design was not carried out.

In 1983 he and his office partners Schirmer and Meyer received an honorable mention at the concrete architecture prize .

As a member of the Association for the Promotion of Architecture e. V., an initiative for the preservation of Lower Saxony's architectural and cultural monuments by the architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves and his former colleague Dieter Oesterlen , he was involved in the Landtag working group. In 2010, he and fellow architects protested against the demolition of the plenary hall of the Lower Saxony state parliament in Hanover in an open letter and at a demonstration.

Leonhardt was a member of the Lions Club Hannover and 1978/79 president of the club.

He was married to Sophia Leonhardt, b. Schulz, and lived in Grünewaldstrasse 8 in the List district .
