Harpa Þorsteinsdóttir (born June 27, 1986 in Garðabær ) is an Icelandic soccer player who has been playing for the Icelandic national soccer team since 2006 and took part in the 2013 and 2017 European soccer championships with them .
Career
societies
Harpa has only played for the Icelandic clubs UMF Stjarnan and Breiðablik Kópavogur . With Stjarnan she won the championship title and the top scorer crown in 2013 and 2014 in 2011, 2013 and 2014, and in 2015 the club was both second in the championship and she was in the list of goalscorers. She also won the state cup in 2012, 2014 and 2015. With Stjarnan she then took part in the UEFA Women's Champions League , but failed in the round of 32 against the Russian champions: 2012/13 to FC Sorki Krasnogorsk , 2014/15 and 2015/16 to Zvezda 2005 Perm . In 2014 she succeeded in the 2: 5 home defeat, the connection goal to 1: 2. After they were automatically qualified for the round of 32 the first two times, they had to qualify last, which they survived with three wins, with two goals in the 4-0 against KÍ Klaksvík .
National team
After Harpa had already completed internationals for the U-17 and U-19 national team Iceland, she came on March 6, 2006 in the 0-1 defeat in Norwich against the selection of England to her debut in the senior team as her was substituted on three minutes before the end of the game. After two further short appearances in April and July in friendly matches, she could not be considered for the European Championship finals after a broken leg .
Harpa only came on as a substitute in August 2010 in a 5-0 win against Estonia when the score was 4-0. After the following 18-month break due to pregnancy, she was brought on again in the first group game of the Algarve Cup 2012 against European champions Germany and received a yellow card one minute after being substituted on . In the two following group games she was only substituted on, in the game for fifth place against Denmark , her 20th international match she was then in the starting line-up for the first time, but was substituted in the 59th minute. In the next three games it was not used again, in the following period it was not used in 45 international matches only six times. She then also took part in the EM 2013 , where the Icelanders reached the quarter-finals, but were eliminated 4-0 against hosts Sweden .
At the 2014 Algarve Cup , the striker scored her first international goal in a 2-1 win over Norway. On April 10, 2014, she managed the first "three-pack" in an 8-0 win against Malta in the World Cup qualification . She succeeded in qualifying for the 2017 European Championship in the last international match in the 5-0 win against Belarus on April 12, 2016 . In qualifying she was the top scorer with ten goals and her team qualified as group winners for the European Championship finals. Although she had not played an international match since June 2016 due to her pregnancy and the birth of her second child, she was nominated for the finals in June 2017 and came on as a substitute in the first game against France in the 75th minute. It was also used in the other two games, but since the three games were lost, the Icelanders were eliminated as the bottom of the group.
In qualifying for the Women's World Cup in 2019 , she made three appearances, but in the end she missed the finals as fifth-best runner-up in the group.
With 19 international goals she is in seventh place in the list of goalscorers for Icelanders.
