Hartwig von Spreckelsen

Hartwig von Spreckelsen (born March 21, 1624 in Hamburg , † 1680 in Ritzebüttel ) was a German lawyer , Hamburg councilor and bailiff in Ritzebüttel .

Origin and family

Spreckelsen was a son of the Hamburg merchant and lawyer to Sankt Nikolai Hartwig von Spreckelsen from his second marriage to Margaretha Claen, daughter of the Hamburg mayor Joachim Claen (1566-1632).

On November 19, 1660 he married Elisabeth Schnock. From this marriage three sons and three daughters were born.

Live and act

Born in Hamburg, studied Spreckelsen after his education from 1644 jurisprudence at the University of Altdorf , from 1647 at the University of Strasbourg and from 1650 at the University of Basel . Here he completed his studies in April 1651 as a licentiate in both canonical and secular law.

After his studies he traveled to Europe and was later Councilor of the Duke Gustavus Adolphus of Mecklenburg in Güstrow .

In 1662 he became a judge at the Hamburg Lower Court . In 1663 he was elected councilor and as such was praetor in 1666 . From 1671 to 1677 he was bailiff in Ritzebüttel for the first time. He returned to Hamburg in 1677 and became a colonel in the parish of Sankt Michaelis , but went back to Ritzebüttel that same year and began his second term there. He died there in 1680 and was buried in the church in Groden . His widow served as Verweserin the Office Ritzebüttel until 1,681th
