Haslau borders on the following cadastral communities of the municipality of Heidenreichstein: in the north on Seyfrieds , in the west on Wolfsegg and in the southeast on Guttenbrunn .

Haslau borders in the west on the cadastral municipality Amaliendorf of the municipality Amaliendorf-Aalfang . The municipality of Schrems borders in the southwest with the cadastral municipality Schrems and in the south with the cadastral municipality Gebharts on Haslau.

Haslau became its own cadastral parish in 1784, which was assigned to the Seyfrieds parish, which was rebuilt at the same time .

In 1850, Haslau, including the Rotte Neuhaslau, was constituted together with Seyfrieds to form the Seyfrieds community.

In 1926 the Haslau Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded and in 1989 it received a new fire station .

On January 1, 1976, it was incorporated into Heidenreichstein.
