Dietweis local chapel

Dietweis is a place and at the same time a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Heidenreichstein in the northwestern Waldviertel. The village is an anger village .

history

The place name is derived from the Old High German personal name "Diotwin".

Dietweis was first mentioned in a document in 1369, became a cadastral municipality in 1784 and initially joined the political municipality of Eberweis in 1850 with 106 inhabitants at that time and became a separate political municipality through the separation in 1925. In 1934 the place had 150 and 1939 129 inhabitants.

A new chapel was inaugurated in 1890, a new bell in 1933 and renovated in 1954 and 1964 to 1966.

As early as 1939 the place was to be incorporated into Heidenreichstein, but this failed due to the resistance of the population. The amalgamation with the communities of Eggern , Reinberg-Litschau and Reinberg-Heidenreichstein was also rejected in 1967.

On January 1, 1970, it was finally merged with the municipality of Heidenreichstein on the basis of a municipal council resolution. In 2001, 145 people lived in the village.

geography

The highest point in the cadastral community is at an altitude of 614  m above sea level. A. on the border with the municipality of Eggern .

The cadastral community is located north of the cadastral community Heidenreichstein. In addition, Dietweis borders the municipality and cadastral municipality of Eggern in the northeast, the municipality and cadastral municipality of the same name Eisgarn in the northwest and the village of Pengers in the cadastral municipality of Reinberg-Heidenreichstein in Eggern in the east.

European main watershed

European river basins and main watersheds

The main European watershed runs through the neighboring village of Motten . This makes Dietweis the last village whose brooks only drain westwards via Heidenreichstein - Braunaubach into the Elbe and the North Sea. From the neighboring Motten, part of the water is already draining eastward into the Thaya and thus via the March and Danube into the Black Sea .
