Heather Menzies (born December 3, 1949 in Toronto , Ontario , † December 24, 2017 in Frankford , Ontario), after her marriage to Heather Menzies-Urich , was a Canadian actress .

Life

Menzies moved at the age of eleven with her family of Canada first to Florida and later to California , arriving in Hollywood , the high school attended. She made her film debut at the age of 15 in the musical My Songs - My Dreams at the side of Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer . The following year she played a supporting role in George Roy Hills' drama Hawaii , in which Julie Andrews again starred . At 16, Menzies made her Broadway debut alongside Shirley Knight in the original production of We Have Always Lived in the Castle . However, this was only performed nine times in October 1966 and remained their only Broadway production. She had other smaller film roles in Hail, Hero! and mastermind in tennis shoes . In 1973 she played the leading female role in the horror film Sssnake Kobra ; she had another leading role in Joe Dante's 1978 horror film Piranhas .

Menzies played increasingly television roles in the 1970s and appeared in guest appearances in Bonanza , The Knallharten Five and The Six Million Dollar Man, among others . Between 1977 and 1978 she played the role of Jessica 6 in the science fiction film Escape into the 23rd Century based series Logan's Run , which was discontinued after 14 episodes. In the August 1973 issue of Playboy , nude photos of her were published. In the 1980s, the role offers for Menzies decreased, her last role she played in 1990 in the television series Man of Dreams .

Menzies married the actor Robert Urich in 1975 , with whom she was married until his death in 2002. During this marriage, the couple adopted three children. She died in December 2017 at the age of 68 from a brain tumor that had only recently been diagnosed.
