Geographical location

The village is located on the district road LAU 24 north of the federal motorway 6 and west of Pühlheim . In the north there are Weißenbrunn, Klingenhof and Raschbach. In the south lie Oberwellitzleithen and the city of Altdorf. All around are fields and meadows. Hegnenberg is located in the so-called Altdorfer Oberland on the mountain of the same name. history

The place was long under the feudal rule of the Reich ministerial family Rindsmaul. In 1281, eight years after Rudolf I von Habsburg was elected German king, the district of the Hofmark Altdorf and thus also Hegnenberg was placed under direct royal administration by the burgraves of Nuremberg (Reichshofmark). From 1504 to 1806 Hegnenberg belonged to the territory of the free imperial city of Nuremberg . There are two historic single-storey stables in the village. Hegnenberg 2 is a massive, plastered, pitched roof building with a half-timbered gable from the 18th century. Hegnenberg 4 has a gable framework. The associated half-timbered barn has an ornamental gable and dates from the early 19th century.

The place name changed from Hegenberg, Haidenberg, Herrenberg to Hegnenberg.

With the community edict (1808), Hegnenberg belonged to the politically independent community of Pühlheim. On January 1, 1978, the place was incorporated into Altdorf as part of the Bavarian regional reform .
