The Heimbach is an almost 8.6 km long, north and orographic left left inflow of Orke in the municipality of Lichtenfels in northern Hesse Waldeck-Frankenberg ( Germany ).

course

The Heimbach rises in the Korbacher Land on the Goddelsheimer Feld . Its source is 350 m north of the edge of the village of Lichtenfelser district Goddelsheim and a few meters east of the county road  55 (Goddelsheim - Hillershausen ). It is located at around 405  m above sea level. NHN .

Initially, the mostly southeast-facing Heimbach flows along the K 55 through Goddelsheim and then in an agricultural area past the Oppermanns- and Seebolds- to the Fuchsmühle , where its longest tributary joins the Schaakenbach coming from the Schaaken Monastery, which is located at Gut Schaaken . From then on, the brook flows in a valley, which is now lined with wooded mountain slopes, in which several small brooks flow, on to and past the Obermühle and Untermühle . Between these mills it crosses under the K 50 ( Fürstenberg - Rhadern ) and the Herkulesweg . He passes the country town of Fürstenberg, which belongs to Lichtenfels and is located east of the brook. Here he enters Örksche Schweiz (Waldeckische Schweiz).

About 1.7 km south-southeast below the bridge , the Heimbach flows into the Eder tributary Orke coming from the west, just under 400 m east of Reckenberg Castle near Orke-kilometer 5.5 at an altitude of 274.6  m .

Catchment area and tributaries

The catchment area of the Heimbach is 28.034 km². One of its tributaries is the 4.6 km long Schaakenbach , which flows into the left side at Heimbach km  4.85 and whose catchment area is 9.394 km².

Natural allocation

The Heimbach flows in its upper reaches close to the source in the natural spatial main unit group West Hessian mountain and sink country (number 34), the main unit Waldecker Gefilde (340 1 ) and the subunit Korbacher Land (340 1 .1) through the natural area Goddelsheimer Feld (340 1 .12 ) as well as for most of its course in the main unit group Süderbergland (33), the main unit Ostsauerländer Gebirgsrand (332) and the subunit Waldstruth (332.3) through the natural areas Aarstruth (332.34) and Örksche Schweiz (332.33).

Protected areas

A lower section of the Heimbach near the mouth of the stream flows in the Hessisches Rothaargebirge bird sanctuary (VSG No. 4917-401; 272.73 km²) and in the Fauna-Flora-Habitat- Area Obere Eder (FFH No. 4917-350; 23.35 km²).

Traffic and walking

The district road  55, which runs northwest from Goddelsheim to Hillershausen , and the K 52, which leads from Immighausen to Goddelsheim, run along the upper reaches of the Heimbach . A little further down the stream , the flowing water is bridged by the K 50, which runs west from Fürstenberg to Rhadern . Otherwise, in addition to roadways, several field and forest paths lead along the stream, on which you can hike; In addition, the Herkulesweg crosses the brook near Fürstenberg .
