Heinrich von Winning

Heinrich Erdmann Ludwig von Winning (born November 14, 1801 in Bernau , † February 1, 1877 in Dresden ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 28th Infantry Brigade .

Life

Heinrich was a son of the Prussian major Karl Ferdinand von Winning (1764-1835) and his wife Charlotte, nee Becker (1770-1851).

Military career

After visiting the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin , Winning was hired on May 5, 1819 as porter ensign in the 7th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army . By the end of September 1841 he was promoted to captain and company commander . Promoted to major on March 21, 1848, he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 19th Infantry Regiment . This was followed from January 19 to October 16, 1850 as commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 27th Landwehr Regiment. Subsequently, Winning was temporarily employed for one year as commander of the ducal Anhalt-Bernburg fusilier battalion and the command was extended to two years on February 14, 1852.

He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1853 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 19, 1853 . Class awarded with oak leaves and swords on the ring. On July 14, 1856 he was appointed commander of the 28th Infantry Regiment and on October 15, 1856 he was promoted to colonel . In position à la suite of his regiment, Winning was promoted to commander of the 28th Infantry Brigade in Düsseldorf on January 20, 1859, and to major general on May 31, 1859. In this position, he was on 25 May 1860 the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves and swords on the ring before his on Aug. 23, 1860 farewell with board took. He died on February 1, 1877 in Dresden.

He married Emilie Schirmann (1806–1891) in Berlin on September 18, 1827. The couple had several children:
