Heinrich Otto von Reckow (born October 9, 1815 in Stettin , † December 15, 1895 in Stolp ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 29th Cavalry Brigade .

Heinrich was the eldest son of the Prussian captain Friedrich von Reckow (1771-1844) and his first wife Luise, born von Regemann (1784-1819), was widowed Schulz.

Military career

After attending grammar school in Köslin , Reckow joined the 5th Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army on June 11, 1834 and was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-February 1839 . From March 10, 1843 to April 30, 1845 he was a cavalry tribe of III. On June 1, 1855 he was appointed squadron chief in his main regiment. On October 18, 1861, Reckow was promoted to major and on July 2, 1863, as a regular staff officer in the 1st Brandenburg Uhlan Regiment (Emperor of Russia) No. 3 in Fürstenwalde / Spree .

For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the German War , Reckow was commander of the 3rd Landwehr-Uhlan Regiment from May 13 to September 16, 1866. After the war he was promoted to lieutenant colonel at the end of September, was appointed commander of the West Prussian Uhlan Regiment No. 1 on October 30, 1866, and was promoted to colonel on July 3, 1868 . In the war against France , Reckow led his regiment in 1870/71 in the battles near Weißenburg , Wörth , Sedan , Artenay , Orleans , Le Mans , Vitry, Raucourt, Frenois, Varize, Chateauneuf, Illiers, Brou, Bonneval and Cravant. Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, he was commissioned after the peace treaty on July 15, 1871, initially with the position of his regiment à la suite , to lead the 29th Cavalry Brigade in Freiburg im Breisgau . On October 19, 1871, he was appointed commander of this large formation and promoted to major general on March 22, 1873. With the award of the Red Eagle Order II. He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John and died on December 15, 1895 in Stolp.
