Helga Uthmann
Helga Uthmann (* May 1933 ; † September 14, 2013 in Neubeckum ) was a German actress and radio play speaker .
Life
Helga Uthmann completed her training at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and made her debut at the Small Theater in Mülheim an der Ruhr. After engagements in Düsseldorf and Hildesheim, she came to the Dortmund Theater in 1975, to which she belonged for 30 years, where she was appointed chamber actress in 1998 and remained connected to him even after she left. In Dortmund, she starred alongside many other roles the Mrs. Higgins in the musical My Fair Lady , and on the side of Claus Dieter Clausnitzer the Mary in Peter Turrini Joseph and Mary . She also had great success with the one-person play The Story of the Maid Zerlinaby Hermann Broch , in which she appeared on stage 180 times. Uthmann was also known for her readings, especially on the occasion of Christmas concerts in the Dortmund Opera House. In 2009 she was a guest at the Schauspiel Köln in Harold Pinter's play The Birthday Party , in Berlin she was seen at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Merlin or Das wüsten Land by Tankred Dorst .
Working in front of the camera remained an exception in Helga Uthmann's career. She played some of her few television roles in 1991 in The Aphid and in 2007 in Lamento . In contrast, Uthmann was employed much more extensively as a radio play speaker. Since 1980 she has spoken in numerous productions on West German Broadcasting , including as a grandmother in the stories about the robber Hotzenplotz .
Helga Uthmann died at the age of 80 after a short, serious illness in her home town of Neubeckum .
