Okrúhle (until 1973 Slovak "Okrúhle"; Hungarian Kerekrét ) is a municipality in the northeast of Slovakia with 596 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Svidník , a circle of Prešovský kraj , lies and traditional landscape Šariš is counted.

The municipality is located in the Lower Beskids , more precisely within the Ondavská vrchovina mountain range . The Radomka , a stream in the Topľa catchment area, flows through Okrúhle . The center of the village is at an altitude of 220 m nm and is 10.5 kilometers from Giraltovce and 18 kilometers from Svidník .
The municipality includes the municipality parts Okrúhle and Šapinec (incorporated in 1964).
Neighboring municipalities are Radoma in the north, briefly Šandal in the northeast, Vyšná Olšava in the east, Soboš in the south, Valkovce in the southwest, Štefurov in the west and Kožany , Beňadikovce and Šarišský Štiavnik in the northwest.
history
The municipality of Okrúhle was settled in the Copper Age.
The current place was first mentioned in writing in 1414 as Kerekreth and was part of the rulership of Radoma and Makovica Castle . In 1427 the village had 45 Porta , during a Polish campaign between 1490 and 1492 the village was destroyed and then uninhabited for some time. In the 17th century members of the Rákóczi dynasty were landowners, in the 18th century the Szirmay and Aspremont families owned local estates . In 1787 the village had 47 houses and 392 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 49 houses and 369 inhabitants who were employed as carters, grain traders and fruit growers.
The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. A steam saw and a distillery were both in operation until 1945.

According to the 2011 census, Okrúhle had 648 inhabitants, 603 of whom were Slovaks , 15 Russians and one Czech and one Ukrainian . 28 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
503 residents professed to be part of the Roman Catholic Church, 92 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 11 residents to the Orthodox Church and six residents to the Evangelical Church AB. Three residents were non-denominational and 33 residents had no denomination.
