Roztoky (until 1927 Slovak "Raztoka"; German Röstchen , Hungarian Végrosztoka - until 1907 Rosztoka ) is a municipality in the northeast of Slovakia with 434 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Svidník of, a circle kraj Prešovský lies and is part of the traditional Šariš landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Lower Beskids in a side valley of the Ondava , near the state border with Poland . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 362 m nm and is 14 kilometers from Svidník .
Neighboring municipalities are Krempna (PL) in the north, Kečkovce in the east, Vyšný Orlík in the south, Nižný Mirošov in the southwest and Vyšný Mirošov in the west.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1435 as Roztoka and belonged to the territory of Makovica Castle . In 1787 the village had 54 houses and 335 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 70 houses and 522 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and cattle herders. There have been several waves of emigration since the middle of the 19th century.
The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Roztoky had 345 inhabitants, including 168 Roma , 88 Slovaks , 65 Russians and two Ukrainians . 14 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
296 residents committed themselves to the Orthodox Church, 16 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, 10 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and six residents to the Greek Catholic Church. Three residents were non-denominational and the denomination was not determined for 14 residents.
