Stročín (Hungarian Szorocsány - until 1902 Szorocsin - older also Sztrocsin ) is a municipality in the district of Svidník in northern eastern Slovakia .
The municipality Stročín on the left bank of the Upper Ondava is located in the Ondauer Uplands ( Ondavská vrchovina ) as part of the Lower Beskids . The district town of Svidník borders in the north on the municipality of Stročíns, the town of Stropkov is eight kilometers away. The highest point in the immediate vicinity of the municipality is the Osy at 499 meters above sea level.
The main road through Stročín running in north-south direction is trunk road 73, which here also forms a section of European route 371 . It bundles traffic from the north from the Duklapass (border with Poland ) to Prešov and Košice .
Stročín is surrounded by the neighboring communities Svidník in the north, Vislava in the east, Duplín in the south and Mestisko in the west.

In 1317 the place was first mentioned in a document.
The population has increased in recent years (1991: 414 inhabitants; 2001: 476 inhabitants), which, according to statistics, is due, among other things, to the increased settlement of Roma families in the 1990s. The population of Stročín consists of 89% Slovaks , 8% of the residents are Roma. 66% of the population stated that their denomination was Greek-Catholic , approx. 77% profess to be part of the Roman-Catholic Church .
