Duplín (Hungarian Bányavölgy - to 1892 Duplin ) is a municipality in the north- east of Slovakia with 545 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Stropkov , a circle of kraj Prešovský belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the Ondavská vrchovina mountains within the Low Beskydy Mountains in the Ondava Valley . The town center is at an altitude of 197 m nm and is four kilometers from Stropkov .
Neighboring municipalities are Stročín and Potoky in the north, Vyškovce in the northeast, Krušinec in the east, Tisinec in the south, Baňa in the southwest, Šarišský Štiavnik and Rakovčík in the west and Mestisko in the northwest.
history
Duplín was founded under German law and was first mentioned in writing in 1379 in relation to a barter between the Cudar family and the Ákos family as Dublen . The place belonged to the rulership of Makovica and was the location of a toll station, which was first mentioned in 1506. In 1427 there were 40 portals . In the 18th century, Duplín was owned by the Splény family . In 1787 the village had 46 houses and 340 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 59 houses and 439 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
The place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Duplín had a population of 478, of whom 421 were Slovaks , eight Russians and one Czech and one Ukrainian . 47 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.
348 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 49 residents to the Greek Catholic Church, 18 residents to the Orthodox Church, three residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Evangelical Methodist Church. Six residents had no denomination and 53 residents had no denomination.
