history

The present municipality was established in 1964 through the merger of the places Driečna (which in turn emerged in 1960 from the places Malá Driečna and Veľká Driečna), Nižná Vladiča, Suchá and Vyšná Vladiča.

Today's municipality was divided in the Kingdom of Hungary between the counties of Sáros (Veľká Driečna, Suchá and Vyšná Vladiča) and Semplin (Malá Driečna and Nižná Vladiča). The places Nižná Vladiča and Vyšná Vladiča arose in the 15th century under Wallachian law (first mentioned in 1430 as Waddisko ). Driečna was founded as a separate place in the late 16th century and divided up in the 17th century. In 1618 he is mentioned as Dricsna . Suchá was mentioned in writing in 1567 as Zuha .

In all places the main sources of income were agriculture, pastures, forestry and weaving. There was heavy fighting in the area during both World War I and World War II.

The community, like many other places in the area, is experiencing severe population decline. In 1789 there were a total of 695 inhabitants, in 1828 with the exception of Malá Driečna (no data available) 1140 inhabitants. Large waves of emigration in the late 19th and throughout the 20th century resulted in a decline to 464 inhabitants in 1970, 147 inhabitants in 1970 to 66 inhabitants today.
